Position Summary
The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in supporting the Controller and finance leadership team by overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close processes, internal controls, and financial analysis.
This position is intentionally designed to be open to a variety of accounting backgrounds. We welcome candidates who are currently serving as:

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Review account reconciliations and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Monitor and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Assist with external audits, tax reporting, and regulatory compliance efforts.
- Partner with operations and department leaders to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
- Participate in system implementations, process improvements, and special projects.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and recommend operational improvements.
- Support cash management, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and cost accounting activities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience leading month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
## Highly Desired Qualifications
- CPA designation or CPA-track candidate.
- Agriculture, manufacturing, food processing, distribution, or related industry experience.
- Experience supervising accounting personnel.
- Exposure to cost accounting, inventory accounting, and operational finance.
- Experience with ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, or similar systems.
