Department Recruitment Goals

We aim to recruit physicians who resonate with the needs of our diverse community and are committed to providing care to these patients. We seek individuals passionate about teaching and those eager to practice in the Central Valley. Fresno is home to over 70 distinct ethnic groups, including a significant Hmong community, with more than 50% of the population identifying as Hispanic/Latino. Our department serves as a safety net provider for obstetric and gynecologic care for patients lacking providers or insurance. Our resident clinic operates within a federally qualified health center, where 80% of patients depend on state-funded insurance and 10% are uninsured. Our goal is to attract physicians dedicated to addressing health disparities in the San Joaquin Valley.

Living in Fresno

Fresno, California, offers a high quality of life with a low cost of living, making it an attractive place to reside. The local school systems, particularly in Fresno and Clovis, are highly rated (e.g., University High School in Fresno ranks 5th among over 1,000 California high schools according to US News). The area provides limitless recreational opportunities and stunning scenery, all within a community that boasts affordable housing. While Fresno has much to offer, it is also conveniently located for quick getaways to the breathtaking Sierra Nevada mountains (just 90 minutes away) and the beautiful Central Coast (approximately two and a half hours away). Notably, Fresno is the only major city in the U.S. with close proximity to three national parks, including the famous Yosemite National Park.
