About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing on a weekly basis, maintaining payroll records, and supporting employees with payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and committed to confidentiality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly/weekly payroll for all employees with accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes
- Review timecards, attendance, and leave records to confirm compliance with company policies
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Prepare payroll reports for accounting, auditing, and management
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and direct deposit
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve errors
- Coordinate with HR and Finance teams on benefits, deductions, and reporting
- Support year-end payroll functions, including W2 and 1099 preparation
Qualifications
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience (multi-state experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, taxes, and regulations
- Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paylocity, Paychex, or similar
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting principles
- Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality
- Strong communication and problemsolving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification)
- Experience in [industry—optional]
- Familiarity with HRIS systems
Compensation:
- Base salary of $70-80K
