Direct Counsel is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to join a sophisticated and highly regarded litigation practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated litigator to handle complex business disputes, take ownership of significant litigation responsibilities, and work directly with partners and clients in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications:

4-6 years of commercial litigation experience.

Substantial experience handling complex business litigation in state and federal courts.

Experience independently managing significant aspects of litigation matters.

Strong experience developing and executing litigation strategy.

Experience managing all phases of written and document discovery.

Experience researching and drafting sophisticated pleadings, dispositive motions, and other court filings.

Experience conducting and defending depositions.

Experience preparing witnesses for testimony.

Experience appearing at status conferences and hearings and arguing motions.

Settlement conference and negotiation experience preferred.
-
Significant trial preparation experience preferred.
-
Excellent academic credentials.
-
JD from an ABA-approved law school.

Active member in good standing of the California Bar.

Persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional work ethic.

Ability to work effectively in a sophisticated, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:

Handle complex commercial and business litigation matters in state and federal courts.
-
Develop and execute case strategy throughout all stages of litigation.

Manage written and document discovery.
-
Research and draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, and other court filings.

Conduct and defend depositions.
-
Prepare witnesses for testimony and trial.
-
Appear at hearings, status conferences, and other court proceedings.

Argue motions in state and federal court.

Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other members of the litigation team.

Provide strategic guidance and regular case updates to clients and supervising attorneys.

Participate in settlement negotiations and conferences.
-
Assist with significant trial preparation and execution.

Take ownership of key litigation responsibilities while collaborating with partners and other attorneys.
Compensation: $290,000-$370,000 annually, depending on education, experience, internal equity, and other job-related factors.
