Job Title: Foreman I, II, III
Reports To: Construction Manager
Employment Status: Hourly (Non-exempt)
We will determine salary based on skills and experience in relation to the function of the role, as well as equity to any other employees in the same or similar role.
Job Summary:
The Foreman will oversee construction crews in the field and ensure that safe, accurate, and timely work is being performed. The Foreman will be responsible for project walkouts, coordination with customer and company management, quality control, and general supervision of onsite work.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Manage and track daily activities of assigned crews.
· Continually inspect work sites for potential hazards and/or safety concerns, ensuring safe work environments and compliance with state, federal, OSHA, and Congruex safety policies.
· Operate (but not limited to) track-hoe, back-hoe, mini excavator, skid steer, dozer, haul truck and trencher
· Excavate and backfill, in a safe manor, trenches for underground utilities
· Perform placement of conduit in open trenches
· Proof conduits
· Pothole existing utilities
· Complete rigging and setting of structures
· Form and pour concrete
· Place asphalt
· Track materials, aggregates, and project requirements.
· Communicate both orally and written, with local officials, company management and staff, customers, and other stakeholders.
· Update the Construction and/or Project Manager on crew needs, progress, etc.
· File complete and accurate paperwork daily.
· Ensure work sites have been adequately cleaned up and worksite is restored after work.
· Travel to and from assigned job sites.
· Assist and train crews as needed.
· May schedule and coordinate subcontractors.
· Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
· Possess and maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
· Have board experience in a telecommunications construction environment, including placing, pulling, and transferring strand, coax, and fiber
· Ability to read and understand blueprints and project specifications
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with crew, leadership, and customers
· Ability to manage crews
· Ability to drive and operate company vehicles, bucket trucks, and work equipment
· Ability to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies’ safety standards
· Ability to utilize proper safety equipment
· Bilingual Spanish and English speaking preferred
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· 5 years minimum operating heavy construction equipment
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Must be able and willing to work indoors and outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions
· Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
· Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery
· Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
· Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting
· Must be able to stand, walk, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time
· Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear
Required Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:
· OSHA 30
· Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
· DOT Medical Card
· Competent Person Certification
· Confined Space training
· Trench Safety training
· Pole Climbing & Ladder Safety
· Flagger Certification
· Forklift Certification
· First Aid / CPR
