Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a high-volume accounting team in Torrance, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented finance candidate who can bring strong ownership to core accounting operations, support accurate reporting, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The role will play a key part in close activities, reconciliations, lease accounting, and financial reporting while helping maintain consistency across day-to-day accounting processes.
Responsibilities:
• Lead recurring close activities each month, ensuring entries are recorded accurately and deadlines are met.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and resolve variances in a timely manner.
• Oversee reconciliation activity across multiple bank accounts and manage related cash posting transactions.
• Support accounts receivable operations by establishing new customer billing profiles and producing non-standard invoices as needed.
• Create and issue billing documents for landlord-related charges while maintaining complete supporting documentation.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and assist in assembling reporting materials for leadership and board review.
• Handle inventory-related accounting, perform reconciliations, and help ensure accurate valuation and reporting.
• Maintain fixed asset records, track additions and retirements, and account for disposals in accordance with policy.
• Manage lease accounting processes in compliance with ASC 842 requirements.
• Assist with accounting work tied to banking changes or related operational transition activities when needed.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial exposure to month-end close.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare financial statements and support management reporting.
• Hands-on experience with lease accounting under ASC 842.
• Strong background in bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger analysis.
• Experience accounting for fixed assets, including depreciation and asset retirement activity.
• Advanced Excel skills, including the use of PivotTables and complex spreadsheet functions.
• Experience with NetSuite is strongly preferred; exposure to large ERP platforms and Google Workspace is a plus.
