Pay : $25.73 hourlyWork Schedule:Full Time: Monday through Friday, 8 hour shifts, NOI weekends!Contract duration: 6 months - with extensionIntroductionThe Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for providing clinical support to healthcare providers while ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment for patient care. This role includes assisting with patient preparation for exams, performing procedures, collecting patient data, administering medications under direction, and documenting patient interactions.Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Relay provider instructions to patients and authorized individuals.
- Collect and document patient information, concerns, and care provided.
- Accurately measure and record vital signs.
- Administer medications per provider instructions.
- Maintain exam rooms by stocking supplies and ensuring cleanliness.
- Prepare and set up trays and equipment for procedures.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of expired medications.
Customer Service & Communication
- Greet patients and provide excellent customer service.
- Inform patients of appointment delays and offer updates.
- Maintain professionalism in patient interactions and communication.
- Assist patients with inquiries and refer billing concerns as needed.
Administrative Duties
- Schedule appointments and procedures accurately.
- Submit prescription requests to pharmacies promptly.
- Manage and document HIPAA, ROI, and other required forms.
- Maintain compliance with safety, confidentiality, and OSHA regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings and training programs.
QualificationsRequired:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or equivalent military training.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in venipuncture, vaccine administration, and EKG administration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT/ICD coding, and pharmacology within the MA scope of practice.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint areas
Work Environment
- Moderate physical exertion required, including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases.
- Fast-paced urgent care setting requiring adaptability and attention to detail.
