Job Summary / Outside Machinist
Perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on diesel marine engines and related marine equipment and systems using work specifications and technical manuals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed.
- Maintain open communication with the management team regarding job status, updates, and changes.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair needs and solutions.
- Provide guidance and training to junior mechanics and apprentices.
- Order and manage inventory of parts needed for repairs.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
Position Requirements and Experience / Outside Machinist
- Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
- Minimum 5 years of marine and/or shipyard experience preferred.
- Use of measuring devices (rulers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth mics, scales, etc.), hand tools, and power tools
