Special Education Teacher Opportunity
Location: Mission Viejo, California
Employment Type: Full-Time, School-Based
A school district in the Mission Viejo area is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join their team for a long-term assignment running from an immediate start through June 10, 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to support students with diverse learning needs while working within a collaborative educational environment.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to students with mild to moderate disabilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and administrators
- Conduct assessments and track student progress toward academic and behavioral goals
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with special education regulations
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student growth and educational planning
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes student success
Required Qualifications
- Active California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Special Education Credential
- Authorization for Mild to Moderate Support Needs
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Special Education, or related field
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior school-based special education experience
- Experience working with elementary, middle, or high school populations
- Knowledge of California special education laws and regulations
- Ability to differentiate instruction and implement evidence-based interventions
