Special Education Teacher Opportunity

Location: Mission Viejo, California
Employment Type: Full-Time, School-Based

A school district in the Mission Viejo area is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join their team for a long-term assignment running from an immediate start through June 10, 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to support students with diverse learning needs while working within a collaborative educational environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with mild to moderate disabilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and administrators
  • Conduct assessments and track student progress toward academic and behavioral goals
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with special education regulations
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student growth and educational planning
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes student success

Required Qualifications

  • Active California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Special Education Credential
  • Authorization for Mild to Moderate Support Needs
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Special Education, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and classroom management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior school-based special education experience
  • Experience working with elementary, middle, or high school populations
  • Knowledge of California special education laws and regulations
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and implement evidence-based interventions
