Job Title: Melter
Job Description
The melter will be responsible for loading cocoa powder into melter machines according to production requirements. This role involves frequent lifting and handling of bags up to 50 lbs, using a computer interface to monitor machine weights, temperatures, and performance, documenting production data, performing basic troubleshooting, and conducting quality checks throughout machine runs. The melter will assist with general production and warehouse duties, maintaining a clean and safe work area following food safety and quality guidelines, and working in warm environments up to 120°ree;F during peak summer.
Responsibilities
- Load cocoa powder into melter machines as per production requirements.
- Lift and handle bags up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Monitor machine weights, temperatures, and performance using a computer interface.
- Document production data on paper or in the computer system.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment when issues arise.
- Conduct quality checks before, during, and after machine runs.
- Assist with general production and warehouse duties as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area following food safety and quality guidelines.
Essential Skills
- Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and machine monitoring.
- Comfortable working in high-heat environments.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Familiarity with GMPs and HACCP.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in production, manufacturing, inspection, and machine setup.
- Knowledge in food manufacturing and production worker responsibilities.
- Machine operating, loading, troubleshooting, mechanical aptitude, and assembly.

Work Environment
Work in a food production facility with shifts 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM. Be prepared for warm work areas, louder than average noise levels, and wearing hairnets, beard nets, steel-toed boots, ear plugs, and gloves at all times during your shift. Time management is key, along with comfort in navigating stairs regularly.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of American Canyon, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $23.50/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
