Financial Analyst - Federal Litigation Support

Job Description

BGMG seeks a Financial Analyst to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Northern District of California. This is a full-time, on-site contract position supporting the Financial Litigation Program (FLP). The analyst will work directly with Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and FLP staff to conduct financial investigations of judgment debtors and support federal debt collection efforts.

This position begins on or around June 3, 2026, with an initial one-year base period and the potential for two additional option years plus a six-month extension.

Note: This position is contingent upon contract award. Candidates who advance through the selection process will be considered for immediate placement upon award.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct financial analyses of individual, partnership, and corporate judgment debtors
Review financial statements, tax returns, bank statements, credit reports, real property records, and loan documents to assess asset collectability
Prepare written reports for AUSAs and FLP staff summarizing findings and recommendations on debt collectability
Draft written discovery instruments, including interrogatories, document production requests, and subpoenas
Evaluate results from computerized database searches, public records, Secretary of State filings, lien and judgment records, and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings
Provide verbal briefings to AUSAs, support staff, and division supervisors as needed
Perform ancillary office support functions as required

Required Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship (required)
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field
Minimum three (3) years of experience in accounting or financial management
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access; familiarity with commercial database programs
Knowledge of debt collection procedures, including garnishment, execution, and receivership
Ability to analyze financial data for individuals, corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies (LLCs), and trusts
Ability to prepare charts, tables, graphs, and work breakdown structures
Must be willing to work 100% on-site at 450 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco, CA — no remote or telework options are available

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), a USAO, or a federal financial litigation program
Knowledge of the Federal Debt Collection Procedures Act
Familiarity with activity-based costing and business case analysis
Understanding of budget execution and administration in a federal government environment

Background Investigation

This position requires standard fingerprinting and a background investigation administered by DOJ. No security clearance is required. Interim access via government escort is available while the investigation is pending.
