Status: Part-Time / Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY
The Waterfront Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation, organization, safety, and maintenance of King Harbor Yacht Club's waterfront facilities. This includes the docks, Guest Dock, dry moorage, hoists, launching areas, gates, and related waterfront equipment.
The position works directly with members, guests, visiting yacht clubs, contractors, and club staff while providing professional member service and helping ensure compliance with KHYC waterfront policies and procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the daily operation and condition of KHYC docks, dry moorage, hoists, launching areas, and waterfront facilities.
- Regularly inspect and power wash waterfront facilities and equipment for maintenance and safety concerns and coordinate necessary repairs.
- Maintain organized and safe dry moorage areas, including boat, trailer, and storage-space assignments.
- Monitor use of the Guest Dock and ensure vessels are properly registered and comply with KHYC docking policies.
- Coordinate docking arrangements for visiting yacht clubs, reciprocal visitors, regattas, cruises, and special events.
- Assist members with waterfront, dry moorage, launching, and dock-related questions.
- Maintain accurate records of dry moorage assignments, Guest Dock usage, inspections, maintenance, and waterfront equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance and coordinate larger repairs with the General Manager and approved contractors.
- Identify and address unsafe conditions and promptly report significant safety, maintenance, or operational concerns to the General Manager.
- Professionally communicate KHYC waterfront rules and policies to members and guests and document or report significant or repeated violations.
- Assist with waterfront operations for races, regattas, Opening Day, visiting fleets, construction projects, and other club events.
- Maintain waterfront and dry moorage areas in a clean, safe, professional, and orderly condition.
- Perform other duties related to club operations as assigned by the General Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with boats, marinas, yacht clubs, waterfront facilities, or a related environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of boating, docks, boat trailers, hoists, and marine safety.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with members, guests, employees, vendors, and contractors.
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment when addressing operational and safety concerns.
- Basic maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driver's license if operation of club vehicles is required.
PHYSICAL & SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
The position requires working outdoors around docks, dry moorage, boats, trailers, water, and marine equipment. The employee must be able to walk on docks and uneven surfaces, bend, reach, push, pull, and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
The Waterfront Coordinator may be required to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, races, regattas, and special events based on club operational needs.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The Waterfront Coordinator is expected to maintain safe, clean, organized, and member-friendly waterfront and dry moorage facilities, respond promptly to maintenance and member needs, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with the General Manager regarding waterfront operations and concerns.
