Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Production Planner to support manufacturing operations in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. The Planner will be responsible for production scheduling, work order management, material readiness, MRP activities, and coordinating with Procurement, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to ensure customer orders are delivered on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain production schedules based on customer requirements and available capacity.
- Process customer purchase orders and maintain order backlog.
- Create, release, and manage internal manufacturing work orders.
- Run MRP and monitor material requirements, reviewing availability and identifying shortages.
- Coordinate with Procurement to expedite open purchase orders and materials.
- Maintain delivery dates and provide updates on order status.
- Ensure materials, documentation, tooling, and other requirements are ready for production.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve scheduling and material issues.
- Participate in customer meetings and support customer-specific production requirements.
- Monitor conflicting priorities and develop solutions to keep production on schedule.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and planning data.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing costs and improving efficiency.
- Utilize SAP and Microsoft Excel to manage planning activities and analyze data.
- Support the company's ISO/Quality Management System.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Support new product introductions and process improvement projects.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in production planning, production control, or materials planning, preferably within electronics manufacturing.
- Experience with SAP and MRP systems.
- Proven experience managing manufacturing work orders and production schedules.
- Knowledge of material shortages, purchase orders, and expediting processes.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to read and interpret technical documentation, engineering instructions, schematics, and reports.
- Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Associate degree in a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) and PCBA/PCB manufacturing.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
- Familiarity with SAP PP/MM or similar manufacturing ERP systems.
- Background in production control and MRP planning.
- Material shortage management and procurement/PO expediting experience.
- Knowledge of ISO and quality management systems.
- Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capabilities.
- Ability to grow into senior planning roles and cross-train in procurement or quality.
