American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 3+ years of L&D experience and prior travel assignment history.

- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a teaching hospital
- Facility averages 200-300 births per month
- Patient population includes high risk antepartum, couplet care, and postpartum patients
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- 13-week assignment length
- Uses Epic charting system
- Ability to circulate for C-sections required
- Floating to other UCSF facilities required, including within a 75+ mile radius
- May be reassigned to different departments, units, or facilities based on job specifications

Requirements\n

- Active CA RN license required
- BSN required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
- AWHONN Intermediate certification required (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience, including at least 1 year of recent experience
- Postpartum experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Previous travel assignment experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, high risk delivery assistance, vaginal delivery assistance, and hemorrhage/shock management
- Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate therapy, and terbutaline
- Neonatal care skills including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and use of radiant warmers
- Postpartum care skills including fundus/lochia/perineum care and foley catheter management
- Fetal monitoring experience including EFM, IUPC placement and calibration, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Antepartum care skills including NST, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical patient triage
- Two references from most recent employer required for consideration
- Any prior employment history with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed

- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
- Assist with high risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and C-section procedures
- Deliver neonatal care in the delivery room including newborn assessment and identification
- Support postpartum patients with breastfeeding, wound care, and discharge teaching
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved by the manager at time of offer, as mid-contract requests will not be accepted
- RTO cannot be scheduled within the first two weeks of the assignment start date
- Local candidates are accepted and receive the same rates as traveling candidates
- Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position given the travel experience requirement
