Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 3+ years of L&D experience and prior travel assignment history.

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a teaching hospital
  • \n

  • Facility averages 200-300 births per month
  • \n

  • Patient population includes high risk antepartum, couplet care, and postpartum patients
  • \n

  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • \n

  • 13-week assignment length
  • \n

  • Uses Epic charting system
  • \n

  • Ability to circulate for C-sections required
  • \n

  • Floating to other UCSF facilities required, including within a 75+ mile radius
  • \n

  • May be reassigned to different departments, units, or facilities based on job specifications
  • \n

Requirements\n

  • Active CA RN license required
  • \n

  • BSN required
  • \n

  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
  • \n

  • AWHONN Intermediate certification required (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
  • \n

  • Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience, including at least 1 year of recent experience
  • \n

  • Postpartum experience required
  • \n

  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • \n

  • Previous travel assignment experience required
  • \n

  • Epic charting system experience required
  • \n

  • Skilled in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, high risk delivery assistance, vaginal delivery assistance, and hemorrhage/shock management
  • \n

  • Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate therapy, and terbutaline
  • \n

  • Neonatal care skills including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and use of radiant warmers
  • \n

  • Postpartum care skills including fundus/lochia/perineum care and foley catheter management
  • \n

  • Fetal monitoring experience including EFM, IUPC placement and calibration, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • \n

  • Antepartum care skills including NST, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical patient triage
  • \n

  • Two references from most recent employer required for consideration
  • \n

  • Any prior employment history with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed
  • \n

Additional Information\n

  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
  • \n

  • Assist with high risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and C-section procedures
  • \n

  • Deliver neonatal care in the delivery room including newborn assessment and identification
  • \n

  • Support postpartum patients with breastfeeding, wound care, and discharge teaching
  • \n

  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved by the manager at time of offer, as mid-contract requests will not be accepted
  • \n

  • RTO cannot be scheduled within the first two weeks of the assignment start date
  • \n

  • Local candidates are accepted and receive the same rates as traveling candidates
  • \n

  • Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit
  • \n

  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position given the travel experience requirement
  • \n
