The Position: We are seeking a Tax Partner – Estate & Trust to lead and expand a sophisticated fiduciary tax practice across Southern California. This is a high-impact leadership role for a seasoned advisor with deep technical expertise and strong relationship-building capabilities. You will oversee complex client engagements, drive strategic estate and trust planning initiatives, and play a key role in firm growth, while mentoring teams and collaborating across service lines.


What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, and executors on complex estate, gift, and fiduciary tax matters
  • Lead advanced tax planning strategies focused on wealth transfer, estate preservation, charitable giving, and multi-generational planning
  • Oversee and review complex tax filings, including Forms 1041, 706, and 709, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Interpret estate planning documents and advise on tax implications and planning opportunities
  • Manage and lead client service teams across consulting, compliance, and tax controversy engagements
  • Represent clients in IRS audits, appeals, and other tax authority matters
  • Drive business development through networking, thought leadership, and relationship cultivation to expand revenue and market presence
  • Collaborate with partners and cross-functional teams (nonprofit, international, and advisory) to deliver integrated client solutions
  • Mentor, coach, and develop high-performing tax professionals, building the next generation of leaders
  • Stay ahead of legislative and regulatory changes impacting estate, gift, and trust taxation


What You Need (Qualifications)

  • 12+ years of experience in estate, gift, and fiduciary taxation within a public accounting or a law firm environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; advanced degree (JD, MST, MBT, or LLM) preferred
  • Active CPA or JD required
  • Deep technical expertise in fiduciary accounting, estate planning strategies, and federal/state tax regulations
  • Proven leadership experience managing complex client engagements and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong business development track record with the ability to grow client relationships and generate revenue
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence clients and internal stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with demonstrated collaboration across service lines and innovation in service delivery
