Industrial Forklift Service Mechanic
Job Description
Job Description Industrial Forklift Service Mechanic
Location: Oakland, California
A day in this role
Start your morning by checking in with dispatch, reviewing your schedule, and loading up your modern service van. Your first stop is a customer site where a lift truck is down. You quickly diagnose the issue using computer-based diagnostics, confirm findings against schematic diagrams, and get the customer an on-the-spot estimate. With approval in hand, you repair the unit, replace worn parts, and update the customer on any future concerns. Throughout the day, you may set up a lathe, drill press, or grinder to fabricate or recondition parts to factory specifications, lubricate and adjust systems, and complete standard inspections. You’ll capture every detail in the Mobile Service application—filling out work orders, obtaining signatures, and closing jobs as complete before providing daily status updates to dispatch and the account manager.
What you’ll tackle
- Rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot customer breakdowns to minimize downtime and provide accurate field estimates for on-site repairs.
- Operate metalworking equipment (lathe, drill press, grinder, and more) to build and repair parts as needed.
- Perform scheduled maintenance: inspections, parts replacement, lubrication, and electrical repairs.
- Evaluate used components against factory specs and determine required adjustments or replacements.
- Review completed work and maintenance findings with customers; identify and communicate potential issues and provide field quotes.
- Use the Mobile Service app to document work, secure customer approvals/signatures, finalize and mark jobs complete.
- Provide daily updates to dispatch; collaborate with the dispatcher and account manager on customer concerns.
What you bring
- High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical certification preferred.
- 2+ years in a service technician role.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulics and computerized diagnostics; able to read and apply schematic diagrams.
- Valid Driver’s License with an insurable driving record.
- Self-directed, able to prioritize, and execute tasks efficiently.
- Keen attention to detail with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for both internal teams and customers.
- Commitment to the company’s core values.
- We are a drug free workplace. All positions require pre-employment screening.
Schedule & rewards
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
