About the Opportunity
Seeking a CNC Machinist to join our milling production team. In this role, you will run established, proven production setups for critical defense programs under strict AS9100 quality standards. Working under the guidance of our Senior Machinists and Programming team, you will load raw materials, monitor machine performance, swap worn tool inserts, and execute routine quality inspections. This position offers a stable environment with extensive, consistent overtime hours and an excellent opportunity to expand your skills on high-end, multi-axis equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Operations: Load material, cycle machines, and monitor the automated machining of high-precision parts on a variety of CNC vertical and horizontal mills.
- Equipment Care: Safely operate and monitor production runs across our fleet, which includes Fanuc Robodrills, Fadals, and Haas CNC mills (including our automated pallet pool system).
- Quality & In-Process Inspection: Use standard precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, depth gauges) to check parts against drawings, ensuring 100% compliance with defense blueprints.
- Basic Maintenance: Perform routine wear-and-tear tasks such as clearing chips, maintaining proper coolant levels, tracking tool life counters, and replacing basic worn inserts.
- Process Documentation: Accurately complete quality tracking logs, part counts, and production router sheets for every shift.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience operating CNC milling machines in a production machine shop environment (aerospace or defense experience is a plus).
- Schedule Commitment: Ability and willingness to work the required extended shift schedule (68.5 hours/week), including Saturdays.
- Measurement & Blueprints: Basic proficiency reading mechanical blueprints and a solid understanding of how to use precision measuring tools correctly.
- Coachability: A strong desire to learn, follow rigid operational checklists, and accept technical direction from senior shop staff.
- Citizenship Requirement: Due to our defense contract obligations, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents (ITAR compliant).
