About the Position
We are looking for a Medical Sales Representative (Marketer) to join our Sales & Marketing team and help expand our presence in the Southern California healthcare market.
This is a field-based B2B sales position focused primarily on developing new business with hospice organizations. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying prospective accounts, connecting with key decision-makers, presenting our medical supply solutions, and developing long-term customer relationships.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, developing new business, working independently, and managing a sales territory.
Job Responsibilities
Business Development & New Account Acquisition
- Identify and research prospective hospice organizations and other qualified healthcare accounts within the assigned territory.
- Conduct prospecting activities through cold calling, email, networking, referrals, and in-person visits.
- Identify appropriate contacts and establish professional relationships with prospective customers.
- Present the Company's medical supply products and services and identify solutions based on customer needs.
- Develop and maintain an active pipeline of qualified prospects.
- Follow up with prospects throughout the sales process and work toward converting qualified opportunities into new accounts.
- Negotiate business terms within established Company guidelines and assist with new account setup.
- Meet established new-account acquisition and business development objectives.
Territory & Customer Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain a structured plan for business development activities within the assigned territory.
- Identify opportunities to increase market penetration and expand the Company's customer base.
- Maintain professional relationships with hospice directors, administrators, case managers, purchasing personnel, and other relevant decision-makers.
- Conduct regular customer and prospect visits as appropriate.
- Maintain communication with existing accounts and identify opportunities for account growth.
- Respond to customer inquiries and coordinate with appropriate internal departments to address customer needs.
- Monitor market conditions, customer needs, and competitive activity relevant to the assigned territory.
- Represent the Company professionally in all customer and business interactions.
Sales & Performance Management
- Work toward assigned sales, revenue, and account-acquisition objectives.
- Maintain an accurate and current sales pipeline.
- Track prospecting activities, customer visits, presentations, follow-ups, and account progress.
- Monitor territory performance and adjust business development activities as needed.
- Identify opportunities for additional product sales and account expansion.
- Participate in sales meetings, territory reviews, and performance discussions.
- Provide management with information regarding sales opportunities, market conditions, and factors affecting territory performance.
Product Knowledge & Training
- Complete all required Company onboarding, product, sales, and industry training.
- Maintain current knowledge of the Company's medical supply products and services.
- Understand product features, applications, availability, and ordering procedures.
- Accurately communicate product information to customers and prospective customers.
- Attend required training sessions, meetings, and continuing education activities.
- Maintain knowledge necessary to effectively respond to customer questions and identify appropriate product solutions.
Reporting & Internal Coordination
- Maintain accurate customer, prospect, and sales information in the Company's designated systems.
- Submit required sales and activity reports within established deadlines.
- Maintain documentation of customer contacts, opportunities, and follow-up activities.
- Coordinate with Customer Service, Operations, Purchasing, Warehouse, Accounting, and other departments regarding customer and account requirements.
- Communicate customer feedback, product requests, and market information to management and appropriate internal personnel.
- Submit mileage, travel, and business expense documentation in accordance with Company policy.
- Properly maintain and use Company-issued vehicles, equipment, and other property.
- Follow Company policies and procedures relating to vehicle use, safety, confidentiality, expenses, customer interactions, and other business activities.
Territory Opportunities
We are hiring for two territory divisions. Please indicate your preferred territory when applying.
- South Division: San Diego, Temecula, Murrieta
The South Division Representative will focus on developing hospice accounts and expanding the Company's presence throughout the assigned territory. - North Division: Menifee, Perris, Riverside, Moreno Valley, San Bernardino, Orange County, Costa Mesa, Long Beach, Downey
The North Division Representative will focus on developing new hospice accounts and expanding the Company's presence throughout the assigned territory.
Final territory assignment will be based on business needs and management approval.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in outside sales, B2B sales, business development, territory sales, or account acquisition.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to confidently communicate with business decision-makers.
- Strong prospecting, presentation, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a field-based environment.
- Organized and able to manage multiple prospects and customer relationships.
- Goal-oriented and comfortable working toward measurable sales objectives.
- Valid California Driver's License.
- Acceptable driving record and ability to meet Company requirements for operating a Company vehicle.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.
