Snapshot / Role Overview

We're looking for a Facility Safety Officer in the San Jose area to lead daily safety across office, shop, fabrication, and warehouse spaces for a growing mechanical contractor.

Impact

  • Reduce recurring hazards and incidents in shop and fabrication areas.
  • Strengthen OSHA and Cal/OSHA compliance through consistent inspections.
  • Hold contractors and vendors accountable for safety on site.
  • Speed up incident response and corrective action.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect shops, warehouses, yards, and equipment rooms.
  • Identify unsafe conditions in sheet metal, piping, plumbing, and mechanical work areas.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses and document corrective actions.
  • Deliver training, toolbox talks, and orientations.
  • Track corrective actions to completion.
  • Coordinate fire and life safety inspections, drills, and emergency plans.
  • Verify contractor and vendor safety before work begins.
  • Report findings, trends, and KPIs.

Must-Haves

  • Three or more years in facility or industrial safety.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA general industry standards.
  • Training and coaching skills.

Nice-to-Haves

  • OSHA 30 or a safety certification.
  • Fabrication shop experience.

Compensation and Logistics

Competitive salary depending on experience, plus benefits. Onsite in the San Jose area.
