Step into a highly impactful role supporting elementary students in a dynamic, onsite contract assignment through June 2027. As a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) near Emeryville, CA, you'll have the opportunity to make a lasting difference for students with significant communication needs in a self-contained classroom environment. With a primary focus on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), your expertise will help shape communication pathways and classroom success for roughly 50 elementary students.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist - CCC certification (required)
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a school-based setting
- Experience working with AAC devices and best practices for their implementation
- Strong understanding of delivering services in self-contained classrooms
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, assistants, and families for student success
- Commitment to working onsite, providing hands-on, consistent support
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative speech-language therapy services to elementary-aged students with significant AAC needs
- Develop, implement, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Assess student communication abilities and tailor intervention plans appropriately
- Provide staff and family training for AAC usage and generalization across settings
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of services, progress notes, and required compliance records
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, data review sessions, and relevant team meetings
This assignment offers a schedule of 32.5 hours per week within the school calendar, allowing you to focus deeply on advocacy and intervention for students with some of the most substantial communication needs.
