Business and Personal Finance Coordinator - Part-Time

Job Description

We are a home health care business seeking an experienced, hands-on finance professional to help organize and coordinate our business and household finances on a part-time basis (approximately 20 hours per week).

\n

\n

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being the “financial quarterback” rather than a back-office bookkeeper—someone who can connect the dots between accounting, tax, banking, and personal planning, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. The work includes “CFO-level” insight and coordination, without being a C-suite title.

\n

\n

What You’ll Do:

\n

1. Coordinate tax and accounting activities

\n

· Work with our CPA and tax preparer to ensure organized, complete, and timely tax documentation.

\n

· Partner with our CFO and review financial reporting.

\n

· Maintain an organized system for key financial records and deadlines.

\n

\n

2. Oversee accounts payable and cash disbursements

\n

· Review and strengthen accounts-payable processes and vendor records.

\n

· Improve visibility into upcoming payments and cash requirements.

\n

· Help ensure appropriate controls around payments and approvals.

\n

\n

3. Provide “CFO-level” insight on the business

\n

· Track cash flow and help with basic forecasting and budgeting.

\n

· Flag issues, trends, and opportunities for the business owner.

\n

· Help create a consistent financial calendar (reconciliations, reporting, tax estimates, payroll, major payments).

\n

\n

4. Support personal financial planning

\n

· Provide household cash-flow visibility and simple projections.

\n

· Help set reserve and liquidity targets.

\n

· Coordinate with tax, investment, insurance, or estate-planning professionals (you are not expected to manage investments directly).

\n

\n

5. Act as the financial “quarterback”

\n

· Serve as the central point of contact among the CPA, tax preparer, accounting/bookkeeping resources, bank, and other advisors.

\n

· Translate between technical finance/tax language and practical decisions for the owner.

\n

· Make sure responsibilities are clear and that key tasks and deadlines are not missed.

\n

\n

Who You Are

\n

· 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles (e.g., controller, finance manager, FP&A, or similar).

\n

· Comfortable working with small-business financials; experience with service businesses or healthcare is a plus.

\n

· Strong understanding of basic accounting, cash flow, budgeting, and tax coordination (you do not need to be a CPA, but you must be able to work effectively with one).

\n

· Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented; able to create structure and follow through without constant supervision.

\n

· Able to explain financial concepts clearly to a non-financial owner.

\n

· High integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information.

\n

\n

Role Details

\n

· Schedule: Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week (flexibility on days/times).

\n

· Employment type: Part-time W-2.

\n

· Location: Santa Barbara, California; hybrid (mix of in-person and remote).

\n

\n

Compensation

\n

· $50–$70 per hour DOE (dependent on experience). Compensation will reflect:

\n

· Depth of experience (controller/CFO-lite vs. strong finance manager).

\n

· Industry experience and complexity of prior roles.

\n

· Level of strategic vs. purely operational support.

\n

\n

*Please note that initial in‑office hours will be required, with a planned transition to a hybrid work arrangement.

\n

\n

If interested, please submit your resume and a brief note on your relevant experience coordinating small-business and personal finances.

\n

\n

We look forward to meeting you.
