Skills and qualifications:
- Current and valid certification or license to teach Special Education (in accordance with state requirements)
- Experience in planning, developing, and implementing individualized educational programs (IEPs)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and parents
- Strong understanding of diverse learning needs and instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Adaptability and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction that meets students’ unique needs
- Develop, modify, and monitor IEPs in compliance with all legal and procedural guidelines
- Assess students’ academic and behavioral progress, documenting progress and adjusting approaches as needed
- Engage in regular collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including related service providers
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Maintain thorough documentation and ensure confidentiality of all student records
- Contribute to the overall school culture and participate in ongoing professional development
