ACCOUNTING ANALYST

We are looking for an Accounting Analyst to join our growing team at AM Advisors. AM Advisors is an outsourced CFO and accounting practice with offices in Oakland, CA and Denver, CO, helping small businesses better understand their finances and make stronger business decisions. We work with a diverse group of clients, with an emphasis on architecture, engineering, and design firms.

This is an entry-level position designed for someone who wants to learn quickly, take ownership of their work, and build a strong foundation in accounting and business finance. Our ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, enjoys solving problems, and is naturally curious about how businesses operate. You do not need to know everything coming in—we are looking for someone who is motivated, organized, dependable, and eager to grow.

Responsibilities:

- Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, invoicing, and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate client books in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop, ensuring transactions are properly categorized and documented.
- Assist with month-end close and preparation of financial reports.
- Review financial data and research discrepancies or inconsistencies.
- Maintain thorough, well-organized notes that clearly document work performed, key decisions, and outstanding items.
- Diligently track open items and follow up with the appropriate parties to ensure outstanding matters are resolved through completion.
- Maintain organized client records and supporting documentation.
- Support multiple clients across a variety of industries and accounting systems.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Accounting, bookkeeping, or QuickBooks experience preferred, but not required.
