Role: Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Full-Time, In Office
Pay Rate: $30 – $32 / hour
Benefits: This role is eligible for medical, dental, vision and 401k.
About the Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Accounts Payable Specialist to join a fast-paced entertainment and production environment in Los Angeles. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with a solid AP foundation who is comfortable working with high-volume transactions, multiple entities, production teams, and complex accounting activity.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable identifying discrepancies, asking questions, and following established accounting and approval processes.
Responsibilities
- Process and review Accounts Payable invoices, credit card transactions, and other accounting activity.
- Review transactions processed through Ramp, including AI/OCR-generated information, and make necessary corrections to descriptions and coding.
- Ensure invoices and transactions have the appropriate approvals and supporting documentation before processing.
- Code AP transactions according to established accounting standards and company guidelines.
- Support AP postings, reconciliations, and transaction research.
- Assist with accounting activity across multiple entities and business operations.
- Use Sage Intacct to process transactions not handled through Ramp, including certain wires and foreign exchange activity.
- Serve as an AP resource for production teams, following up on missing information, documentation, and approvals.
- Assist production teams with accounting setup for new projects.
- Coordinate and track cash, credit card activity, and production points of contact.
- Support production project wrap-up and closing activities.
- Research unusual or incorrect transactions and escalate issues when additional review is required.
- Maintain accurate accounting records while handling a high volume of information and transactions.
- Work collaboratively with the existing AP and accounting team to meet deadlines and maintain internal controls.
Qualifications
- Previous professional experience in Accounts Payable or accounting.
- Experience working in an entertainment, production, media, or similar project-based accounting environment strongly preferred.
- Understanding of basic accounting concepts and terminology, including intercompany transactions, credit memos, debits/credits, and reconciliations.
- Experience working with multiple entities or complex accounting structures.
- Ability to manage a high volume of transactions and data while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to recognize when something does not look correct.
- Comfortable following established approval processes, accounting controls, and procedures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to professionally follow up with production teams and internal stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, organized, coachable, and willing to ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate an accounting issue rather than make assumptions.
