Position Purpose and Summary

Culinary skill produces great food. Logistics is what makes it possible to produce it thousands of times, across multiple sites, without running out of anything or breaking the supply chain the whole operation depends on. The Kitchen Logistics Manager is responsible for that infrastructure.

Reporting to the Director of Food Services, this role oversees all inventory management, storage and packaging for HTM's kitchen operations. That includes receiving and inspecting shipments conducting monthly inventory counts, controlling waste and spoilage, overseeing food packaging and labeling.

This position does not involve cooking. It involves making cooking possible at scale, every day, without disruption. When the inventory is right, the kitchen runs. When the kitchen runs, people get fed. The Kitchen Logistics Manager is accountable for making sure it works.

Responsibilities

Receiving & Inventory Management

  • Oversee the receiving process for all kitchen supplies including dry goods, perishables, and equipment

  • Inspect all incoming shipments to verify they meet quality and accuracy standards

  • Maintain accurate records of all items received including quantity, quality, and expiration dates

  • Conduct a full inventory count on the first day of every month

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure they remain sufficient for daily kitchen operations

  • Implement inventory control measures to reduce waste and spoilage

  • Notify the Executive Chef of low stock levels before they affect operations

Storage & Organization

  • Design and maintain storage systems that maximize capacity and ensure systematic, easy access to all items

  • Establish and enforce cleaning protocols for all stock areas including walk-in coolers and freezers

  • Conduct routine sanitation inspections and promptly address any maintenance or cleanliness issues

Operations & Communication

  • Maintain an active presence on the kitchen floor to oversee logistics operations

  • Ensure effective coordination between the logistics function and the culinary team

  • Produce routine reports on inventory status, delivery schedules, and other key logistical measures

  • Communicate regularly with the Executive Chef and Senior Director of Food Services to provide updates and implement improvements

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment background check

  • Must pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screenings

  • Must provide proof of legal authorization to work in the United States

  • Must comply with all HTM policies including safety, confidentiality, conduct, and HIPAA standards

  • Valid California driver's license required

  • Must provide proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage

  • Must qualify for HTM's commercial insurance coverage

  • Reliable personal transportation required

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on a continuous basis

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Ability to push, pull, grasp, and reach overhead regularly

  • Ability to drive vehicles in and around Los Angeles County

  • Ability to work in variable indoor and outdoor environmental conditions

  • Full-Time | Non-Exempt classification

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience in a high-volume food service, warehouse, or logistics environment preferred

  • Experience supervising staff or coordinating delivery operations preferred

  • Familiarity with FIFO inventory principles and stock rotation practices

  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in inventory management and logistics

  • Experience with packaging, labeling, and cold storage management preferred

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Commitment to serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness
