Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations for a financial services organization in Los Angeles, California. This Contract position will oversee end-to-end payroll administration, ensuring accurate and timely processing while supporting compliance with payroll, tax, and benefits requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep payroll leadership experience, strong knowledge of ADP Workforce Now, and the ability to manage complex payroll activities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Direct full-cycle payroll operations from data review through final processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
• Oversee payroll records, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and benefit-related entries while maintaining compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
• Serve as the primary payroll subject matter expert for ADP Workforce Now and related payroll platforms, resolving issues and improving day-to-day efficiency.
• Partner with accounting, benefits, and finance teams to reconcile payroll results, support reporting needs, and address discrepancies promptly.
• Review payroll audits and control procedures to strengthen accuracy, documentation, and regulatory compliance across the payroll function.
• Manage retirement and benefit payroll components, including 401(k) administration and related deductions, with careful attention to detail.
• Support payroll-related process improvements and assist with operational changes affecting payroll workflows when needed.
• Provide guidance to payroll staff and stakeholders on best practices, timelines, and issue resolution throughout each pay cycle.• 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership responsibility for end-to-end payroll operations.
• Hands-on expertise with ADP Workforce Now is required.
• Prior experience working with payroll systems such as ADP, Ceridian, and other automated payroll platforms.
• Strong understanding of payroll accounting, audits, tax withholdings, deductions, and benefits administration.
• Background in financial services or banking is preferred.
• Experience handling 401(k) or similar retirement plan payroll administration.
• Proficiency working across payroll-related tools and systems, including accounting software and expense or timekeeping applications.
• Excellent accuracy, organizational skills, and ability to manage sensitive information in a deadline-driven setting.
