About the Role

Elite Fuels Transportation Inc. is seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance, repair, compliance, and operational readiness of our heavy-duty diesel tractor-trailer and fuel tanker fleet.

This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced fleet maintenance professional who understands that fleet uptime, preventive maintenance, safety, compliance, cost control, and technician accountability all work together.

We are looking for someone who can do more than maintain the status quo. The right candidate will help strengthen and modernize our maintenance operation by improving preventive maintenance programs, implementing digital fleet-management processes, building stronger parts and inventory controls, managing vendors, and leading our maintenance team.

Heavy-duty truck fleet maintenance experience is required. Experience with fuel tankers, hazmat transportation, or petroleum fleets is highly preferred.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Fleet Maintenance & Uptime

  • Oversee maintenance and repair of heavy-duty diesel tractors, tanker trailers, and related fleet equipment.
  • Manage preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, corrective repairs, and equipment readiness.
  • Minimize avoidable downtime and ensure equipment is available to support daily transportation operations.
  • Establish repair priorities and coordinate shop workflow based on safety and operational needs.
  • Monitor recurring equipment issues and develop solutions to improve fleet reliability.

Shop & Team Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and hold mechanics and maintenance personnel accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and completion of assigned work.
  • Coordinate technician workload, repair schedules, and maintenance priorities.
  • Establish clear maintenance procedures and performance expectations.
  • Train and coach staff on maintenance, inspection, safety, and compliance procedures.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient shop operation.

Maintenance Systems & Process Improvement

  • Help transition maintenance operations from manual/paper-based processes to an organized digital fleet-management system.
  • Develop and maintain digital preventive maintenance records, inspection documentation, repair histories, and compliance records.
  • Utilize fleet and diagnostic technology to improve maintenance visibility and decision-making.
  • Experience with Samsara, Safety Vision, Creative Energies, JPRO, or similar fleet-management/diagnostic platforms is valuable.

Parts, Inventory & Cost Control

  • Establish and manage an organized parts and inventory-control program.
  • Track parts usage, availability, purchasing, and maintenance costs.
  • Build processes to reduce unnecessary spending while ensuring critical parts are available when needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency and control overall fleet repair costs.

DOT, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure fleet equipment meets applicable DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, tanker, and hazardous-material transportation requirements.
  • Maintain equipment and maintenance documentation in inspection-ready condition.
  • Support preparation for DOT audits, CHP inspections, and other regulatory reviews.
  • Enforce high safety standards for equipment used in fuel and hazardous-material transportation.

Vendors & Field Support

  • Manage relationships with outside repair facilities, dealerships, parts suppliers, and service vendors.
  • Coordinate outside repairs and monitor vendor performance, quality, cost, and turnaround time.
  • Provide field oversight and breakdown support as operational needs require.
  • Travel to company locations, vendors, and equipment locations as necessary.

Required Qualifications

To be considered, candidates should have:

  • 5+ years of fleet maintenance experience involving heavy-duty diesel trucks.
  • Previous leadership experience supervising a shop, mechanics, technicians, or fleet-maintenance team.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, diesel tractor-trailer repairs, inspections, and fleet readiness.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish – a major plus.
  • Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA fleet maintenance and compliance requirements.
  • Experience implementing, managing, or working extensively with fleet-maintenance software or digital maintenance systems.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, inventory-control, and cost-management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced transportation environment.

Highly Preferred

Candidates with the following backgrounds will receive strong consideration:

  • Fuel transportation, petroleum, tanker, or hazardous-material fleet experience.
  • Experience maintaining fuel/diesel tanker tractor-trailers.
  • Experience with pneumatic and/or vacuum systems.
  • ASE certifications or equivalent technical credentials.
  • Experience building or improving a fleet-maintenance program in a growing organization.
  • Experience with Samsara, JPRO, Safety Vision, Creative Energies, or similar systems.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • CDL Class A with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements and no restrictions.
