For more than 30 years, Mail Dispatch has been a trusted leader in final-mile delivery and courier services, providing reliable same-day and next-day delivery throughout California. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead San Diego-based operations and take ownership of daily transportation operations, team performance, customer service, and operational results. We are looking for a hands-on leader who leads by example, develops people, holds teams accountable, and thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop operations personnel, dispatch staff, drivers, and couriers.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain high-performing team members and independent contractors.
- Oversee daily same-day and next-day delivery operations and ensure service commitments are met.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, dispatch, routing, and daily workflow.
- Monitor key performance indicators including on-time service, productivity, staffing, and route performance.
- Identify operational challenges, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
- Resolve escalated customer and operational issues with urgency and professionalism.
- Partner with senior leadership to improve efficiency, service, and overall terminal performance.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of leadership experience in transportation, logistics, courier, final-mile delivery, or a related field.
- Proven experience managing drivers, couriers, dispatch teams, or field operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with staffing, scheduling, routing, and performance management.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, urgency, and integrity.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
Compensation & Benefits
$80,000 - $100,000 annually, depending on experience
