Step onto the bench, open a fresh set of schematics and wire lists, and map out your build for the day. You’ll prototype new concepts, assemble and wire complex test systems, and fabricate military-grade cables and harnesses that interface with Automated Test Equipment (ATE). Precision matters—every crimp, solder joint, and torque spec is executed to exact standards as you bring Interface Test Adapters (ITAs) and cable assemblies from drawings to reality.

What you’ll do

  • Build working prototypes from engineering documentation and verbal assembly instructions.
  • Construct military cables and harnesses for ATE, including pulling cables through braiding and tubing to specified lengths and layouts.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wire lists, blueprints, mechanical assembly and fabrication drawings to plan and execute assemblies.
  • Assemble and wire test systems, routing, securing, labeling, and verifying connections.
  • Construct Interface Test Adapters (ITAs), completing all internal wiring and PCBs directly from schematic diagrams.
  • Perform soldering of thru‑hole and SMT components to standard, ensuring clean, reliable joints.
  • Use tools daily: torque wrenches, soldering irons, continuity testers, calipers, pin extraction tools, wire crimpers, and riveting tools.
  • Carry out continuity checks and quality verifications throughout each build.
  • Lift heavy equipment safely when staging, mounting, or installing assemblies.

What you bring

  • 5+ years in an electro‑mechanical assembly environment.
  • IPC‑A‑610 certification (required) and proven skill with both SMT and thru‑hole soldering.
  • Hands‑on experience constructing military cables/harnesses for ATE.
  • Fluency reading schematics, wire lists, blueprints, and fabrication drawings.
  • Ability to follow verbal assembly instructions and work from minimal direction when prototyping.
  • Comfort using torque wrenches, solder irons, continuity testers, calipers, pin extraction tools, wire crimpers, and riveting tools.
  • Capability to lift heavy equipment as part of daily tasks.
