The firm’s transactional practice assists with business formation and entity structuring to reduce risk and prevent future litigation. Lepera + Associates also maintains a robust litigation practice in state and federal courts, arbitration, and administrative forums, handling contract, employment, real estate, land use, labor, and unfair business practice matters with a strong willingness to litigate when needed.

Role Description The Litigation Associate will handle a variety of business and real estate litigation matters in a full-time, hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA, with some work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, conducting legal research, and preparing legal memoranda and case strategy documents. The role involves managing depositions, communicating with clients and opposing counsel, and coordinating with courts and arbitration forums for hearings, conferences, and trial-related tasks. The Litigation Associate will support case development from initial investigation through resolution, including settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial preparation. Collaboration with partners and colleagues on case strategy, as well as maintaining accurate case files and deadlines, is an essential part of this position.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Law, with experience in business and/or real estate litigation
  • \n

  • Proficiency in drafting Motions, pleadings, and discovery documents
  • \n

  • Advanced Research skills, including case law, statutes, regulations, and secondary sources
  • \n

  • Hands-on experience with Depositions, including preparation and review of transcripts
  • \n

  • Familiarity with state and federal Courts, arbitration proceedings, and administrative hearings
  • \n

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active California Bar membership (or eligibility to be admitted promptly)
  • \n

  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with attention to detail and clear legal analysis
  • \n

  • Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • \n

  • Professional judgment, client-service mindset, and strong organizational and time-management skills
  • \n

  • Previous law firm litigation experience and interest in real estate or business law are strongly preferred
  • \n
