\n
The opportunity
\n
We are looking for a hands-on leader to run our case management team. You will set the standard for quality, train every new hire and develop each team member to the level our clients deserve. You will work directly with our attorneys and own the day-to-day flow of cases from intake to filing.
\n
What you will do
\n
• Lead, coach and evaluate a team of law clerks, paralegals and legal assistants; hold regular one-on-ones and set clear goals.
\n
• Design and deliver onboarding: a structured 30/60/90-day training plan, checklists and SOPs for each case type.
\n
• Review applications and evidence packets before attorney sign-off; catch errors, gaps and inconsistencies.
\n
• Manage caseload distribution, deadlines and RFE/NOID response timelines so nothing is missed.
\n
• Handle escalated client situations with empathy and professionalism, and route legal questions to attorneys.
\n
• Track team KPIs (cases filed, turnaround time, error rate, client follow-up) and report to firm leadership.
\n
• Improve processes and keep our case management system accurate and current.
\n
• Model the professional conduct, accountability and teamwork we expect from everyone.
\n
What you bring (required)
\n
• 5+ years of immigration case management or paralegal experience in a U.S. law firm.
\n
• 2+ years supervising, training or leading other legal staff.
\n
• Full professional fluency in English and Spanish (speaking, reading and writing).
\n
• Hands-on experience with family-based petitions, adjustment of status, consular processing/NVC and waivers; humanitarian cases (VAWA, U visa, asylum) a strong plus.
\n
• Experience with an immigration case management system (e.g., Docketwise, INSZoom, LollyLaw, Clio or similar).
\n
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
\n
• Ability to work on-site in San Diego, Monday–Friday.
\n
Nice to have
\n
• Paralegal certificate or bachelor's degree.
\n
• DOJ Accredited Representative.
\n
• Experience building training programs or SOPs from scratch.
\n
• Experience supporting removal defense or EOIR cases.
\n
Who thrives in this role
\n
Someone calm under pressure, direct and respectful in feedback, who owns results and raises the level of the people around them.
\n
How to apply
\n
Apply through this posting and include a short note (in your cover letter or message) about a team member you trained or developed: what they learned in their first 30 days, how you knew they were ready to work on their own, and the result. All applications are handled in strict confidence.
