Job Title: CNC Mill Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Mill Machinist with experience in performing changeovers and short runs on Vertical Mills. The ideal candidate will be proficient in programming G&M code, executing set-ups, and changing tooling while working with aluminum and stainless materials. The primary focus of this role will be setting up programs and tool changes on the Mills for the operators to run.

Responsibilities

  • Set up jobs to meet production schedules.
  • Ensure job set-up meets quality requirements by producing an acceptable first article run.
  • Run special tasks as assigned.
  • Make unassisted machine adjustments or offsets.
  • Create fixtures and speed-up jobs by making necessary program adjustments.
  • Assist with machine breakdown and repair by troubleshooting.
  • Communicate with production manager and scheduling for planning.
  • Operate machines and assist with QC duties as needed, including creating check sheets.
  • Assist with training new set-up personnel by shadowing, suggesting, and improving processes.
  • Monitor new tooling usage to ensure proper speeds and feeds.
  • Follow through with repairs to completion or find alternatives if needed.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in a job shop environment with set-up experience.
  • Proficiency in Fanuc, Celos, G-code, and Mastercam.
  • Ability to edit programs through Mastercam.
  • Capability to perform tool selection and changes.
  • Understanding of how to use an edge finder and origins on the x and y axis.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Formal education or trade school is desirable but not required.
  • Experience with Mori, Kitamura, Doosan & Haas machines is beneficial.
  • Physical ability to lift 25 lbs.

Work Environment

This position is based in a machine shop environment with a focus on aerospace parts. The work schedule is the first shift, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Thursday, and 6:30 am to 3:00 pm on Friday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oceanside, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
