Job Description

Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

A sophisticated Los Angeles litigation practice is seeking a mid-level associate to handle complex business disputes for companies, executives, investors, and entrepreneurs across California. The practice handles high-stakes matters involving contracts, business torts, partnerships, corporate governance, fraud, and other commercial conflicts in state and federal courts. Associates are given meaningful responsibility for cases, including depositions, substantive motion practice, direct client communication, and opportunities to develop courtroom experience. Compensation ranges from $210,000-$335,000, depending on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Handle complex commercial disputes in California state and federal courts from initial pleadings through trial preparation
  • Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery motions, briefs, and other substantive litigation filings
  • Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, settlement proceedings, and trial preparation
  • Develop case strategy, manage discovery, coordinate with experts, and take ownership of significant portions of matters
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding litigation strategy, business risk, case developments, and potential resolution
  • Work closely with experienced trial attorneys while developing the judgment and advocacy skills needed to independently manage sophisticated disputes

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the California Bar
  • 3–7 years of commercial litigation experience at a law firm
  • Experience handling complex business disputes in California state or federal court
  • Strong legal research, brief-writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
  • Deposition, motion argument, arbitration, mediation, or trial experience is preferred
  • Ability to take substantive ownership of matters while communicating effectively with clients and senior attorneys

WHAT WE OFFER

A strong platform for litigators who want sophisticated commercial matters without spending the next several years buried inside oversized case teams. The role combines $210,000-$335,000 in annual compensation with hybrid flexibility, meaningful case ownership, direct client relationships, substantive deposition and motion experience, and increasing courtroom exposure. Strong associates have the opportunity to develop into lawyers capable of running significant business disputes rather than simply supporting them.
