Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced 3rd Shift Injection Molding Production Supervisor to oversee nightly manufacturing operations at our Garden Grove facility. This position is responsible for leading production teams, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, and ensuring consistent production quality throughout the shift.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in injection molding, strong leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of molding processes, equipment operation, troubleshooting, and plastics manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all production team members on the 3rd shift, promoting a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
- Oversee daily injection molding operations and ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and according to established parameters.
- Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with molding parameters, setup standards, and quality specifications.
- Assign work, manage labor allocation, and maintain appropriate staffing coverage throughout the shift.
- Conduct shift meetings, document production activities, and provide detailed handoff reports to incoming supervisors.
- Troubleshoot injection molding machines, robotics, material flow issues, and auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime.
- Partner with Quality and Maintenance teams to identify and resolve production, quality, and equipment-related issues in a timely manner.
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures while promoting continuous improvement throughout the production process.
- Train, coach, and develop operators and technicians on molding procedures, safety practices, equipment operation, and production standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely production records, including production logs, downtime tracking, and scrap reporting.
- Monitor shift performance and address production issues promptly to maintain productivity and meet production goals.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in injection molding; prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of injection molding processes, machine operation, and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Hands-on experience with production equipment, auxiliary support systems, and quality requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop production team members.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze production issues, make sound decisions, and maintain productivity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office and production tracking systems.
- Ability and willingness to work weekends as needed to support production schedules and staffing requirements.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift as required throughout the duration of the shift.
- Work is performed in a plastics manufacturing environment with exposure to injection molding machinery, moderate noise levels, and varying temperatures.
- Must be comfortable working overnight and in a fast-paced production environment.
