Job Description
Job Description
Senior Software Engineer - Agentic AI (San Francisco)
About the company
Our client is an AI-native fintech building agentic AI for credit unions and community banks. One AI platform powers voice, digital and employee-assisted channels for hundreds of financial institutions and reaches more than 10 million people across the US. They're a Series A company that is already cash-flow positive, and they're growing product and engineering to keep up with demand.
The role
We're looking for a software engineer with 3–6 years of experience building production-grade platform systems in TypeScript and/or Python, who has led the systems they shipped rather than just contributing to them. You'll own technical decisions end to end and work with LLM-based and agentic AI in production every day, in person in San Francisco, with a direct line to the CTO and CEO.
What you'll do
- Lead the design and build of scalable, observable and maintainable platform services that power the company's agentic AI products
- Own technical decisions end to end, including architecture, APIs, data models, performance and security, under real limits on latency, reliability, cost and scale
- Work in person with engineering leadership, the CTO and the CEO, and with product, design and data, to turn product bets such as an AI-first contact center and AI-native consumer banking into shipped systems
- Build and extend backend systems in TypeScript and Python, and shape frontend experiences in JavaScript/React
- Lead the integration of LLM-based and agentic AI capabilities into production, from design to deployment. This is applied AI engineering, not research.
- Set engineering standards for code review, testing, deployment and incident response, and bring AI-native tools (Claude Code, Cursor) into daily work
Must-haves
- 3–6 years of experience as a software engineer
- Has shipped LLM or agentic features to production users in a recent role (internal tools, side projects or a skills-list mention don't count)
- Has led a production platform or core service end to end and made its architecture decisions
- Strong system design and hands-on coding skills
- TypeScript/Node or Python as your main production language in recent roles (React a plus)
- At least 1 recent year at a Series A–D startup (earlier big tech experience is fine)
- Deep, daily use of frontier AI tools such as Claude and Cursor
- BS in Computer Science or a related STEM field
Nice to have
- Technical founder or founding engineer experience
- Conversational AI, voice AI, fintech, banking or regulated financial services background
Compensation and location
- $230K–$250K USD base plus competitive equity
- 100% paid health, dental and vision, 401(k) and discretionary PTO
- Daily meals, commuter benefit, and Claude Enterprise for everyone
- Onsite 5 days a week in a new office in San Francisco's Financial District
- Open to visa transfers (e.g., OPT, H-1B transfers)
Interview process
- CTO interview (45 minutes, virtual)
- CEO interview (45 minutes)
- Final onsite interviews (3 hours)
