Job DescriptionJob Summary
Assists surgeons and anesthesiologists while coordinating equipment, supplies, and staff throughout surgical procedures. Provides perioperative nursing care, ensures patient safety during all phases of surgery, and participates in patient assessment, care planning, and treatment in accordance with established surgical standards.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience

Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent: Required

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred

One year of full-time Operating Room experience: Required
Licenses & Certifications

Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required

Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification: Required

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Preferred

Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR): Preferred
Key Responsibilities
-
Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures while coordinating the flow of equipment, supplies, and staff.

Circulate in the Operating Room and maintain a safe, sterile surgical environment using aseptic techniques.

Prepare patients for surgery, including proper positioning and perioperative assessment.

Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative nursing care according to established surgical standards.

Safely operate Operating Room equipment and handle biohazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols.

Access and utilize electronic health records and facility information systems to support patient care.

Promote patient safety by adhering to emergency preparedness, infection prevention, hazardous material handling, and medical equipment safety procedures.

Document tissue and allograft temperatures, verify package integrity, and maintain required tissue logs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.

Utilize downtime productively for chart audits, equipment cleaning, restocking, staff training, and department-specific assignments.
