As a Home Health Speech-Language Pathologist, your key responsibilities will include:

• Delivering home-based speech therapy to patients facing communication, swallowing, or cognitive challenges due to illness or injury
• Collaborating with a home health team, which may consist of an RN, LPN, CNA, HHA, PT, and OT, to focus on the patient’s care plan and established objectives
• Assessing and evaluating a patient’s communication, swallowing, and cognitive processing abilities
• Conducting patient assessments, documenting progress, and ensuring that patient goals are achieved
• Assisting with exercises related to mouth, breathing, and swallowing, as well as fluency, articulation, and reading
• Educating patients and their families about the care plan, therapy objectives, safety practices, and self-care techniques

Essential qualifications for Home Health Speech-Language Pathologists include:

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology and an active SLP license in CA
• At least 1 year of experience in speech therapy, preferably in a home healthcare setting
• CPR certification [and any additional relevant certifications]
• Familiarity with state and federal home health regulations
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking abilities, effective communication skills, and a compassionate demeanor
