Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN II) to join the Surgical Short Stay team. This fast-paced unit provides specialized pre-operative and post-operative care to patients across all age groups, including infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a wide variety of patient conditions, performing advanced assessments, delivering patient education, and supporting patients through procedural and recovery phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative nursing care

• Monitor and assess patients throughout recovery phases

• Recognize and respond rapidly to cardiac, respiratory, and other medical emergencies

• Interpret ECG rhythms and provide appropriate interventions

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans

• Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and discharge instructions

• Delegate patient care responsibilities appropriately while ensuring quality outcomes

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Perform unit-specific safety and quality control procedures

• Support organizational initiatives focused on patient safety and excellence in care

Required QualificationsEducation

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) or equivalent required

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Experience

• Current EPIC experience required

• Completion of a basic cardiac arrhythmia course with passing score required

• Minimum 6 months Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last 2 years preferred

• Minimum 1 year pre-op/post-op Diagnostic Cath Lab experience preferred

Certifications & Licensure

• Active California RN License

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
