Mid-size law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Secretary. Candidates are expected to be able to support all aspects of civil litigation and have knowledge of state and federal court rules and procedures, local court rules, deadlines, and experience with electronic filing and service.

Knowledge:

  • Position requires knowledge of state and federal rules, court rules and procedures, and calendaring.

Duties:

  • Organize and maintain legal files and documents.
  • Perform data entry and file management tasks.
  • Assist attorneys with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings and managing calendars.
  • Prepare legal documents, discovery shells, responses.
  • Utilize document management systems to store and retrieve files.
  • Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy.
  • E-filing documents with various courts.

Skills:

  • Strong computer skills and experience using systems such as/similar to: MS Office, calendaring programs, e-filing and document management systems (i.e. NetDocs)
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks/priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail for proofreading legal documents and handling tracking systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years as a Legal/Litigation Assistant
  • Experience in Personal Injury, a plus
  • Experience in Construction Defect, a plus

This position requires a high level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a legal environment and possess strong administrative skills.
