We have an exciting opportunity for a Vehicle Mechanic to join our Facilities Team in Palmdale, CA! This is a 2nd shift position with work hours Monday-Friday, 12:00pm - 9:30pm.

Under limited supervision this position is responsible for inspection, repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive equipment and machinery including but not limited to autos, trucks forklifts, cranes, semi-tractors/trailers, lifts, towers backhoes and dozers. Troubleshoots and diagnosis faulty operations new using motor analyzers, pressure gauges, chassis charts, and factory manuals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    \n
  • Inspect repair and maintain a variety of automotive equipment and machinery,
  • \n

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose faulty operations using motor analyzers, pressure gauges, chassis charts, and factory manuals
  • \n

  • Disassembled and overhaul engines, transmissions, clutches, generators, starters, differentials, distributors, alternators, pumps, and other assemblies.
  • \n

  • Replace worn or broken parts; grind valves; adjust brakes; tighten body bolts; perform wheel alignment; repair wiring; and adjust lights.
  • \n

  • Perform DOT inspections while ensuring compliance with vehicle depot.
  • \n

  • Monitor availability and condition of tools and equipment to support maintenance and repair activities in line.
  • \n

  • Recommend purchase of replacement and or new equipment as needed.
  • \n

  • May assist will develop and maintenance procedures and scheduling maintenance for a variety of automotive equipment and machinery line.
  • \n

  • May provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff
  • \n

Job Qualifications

    \n
  • Typically requires a high school diploma, a two-year technical or trade school equivalent and five or more years experience as a vehicle or machinery mechanic. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • \n

  • Must demonstrate an extensive knowledge of mechanic principles, concepts and regulations and have a working knowledge of and discretion in safely operating hand and power tools.
  • \n

  • Must be customer focused and possess:
      \n
    • a valid California driver's license with a good driving record verified by the DMV;
    • \n

    • strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve non-routine and complex issues;
    • \n

    • strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels of employees, outside vendors and contractors;
    • \n

    • strong verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings;
    • \n

    • ability to resolve non-routine and complex issues that require evaluation and interpretation; and
    • \n

    • strong knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to the field.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
