Job Description

Matrix Providers is hiring a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in Fairfield, CA

  • Employment Status: Full Time
  • Compensation: $85.50 - $88.00/hr
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
  • Benefits: Competitive financial package with a comprehensive insurance package including health, dental, vision, and life coverage.
    • Accrued Paid Time Off (PTO)
    • Paid Holidays (Outlined in Handbook)
    • 401(k) Plan

Requirements: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) must have and meet the following:

  • Degree: Master's degree in nursing.
  • Education: Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Certification: Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties).
  • Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements. This is typically 6 months of experience as a Nurse Practitioner within the Family Practice or Family Medicine area.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse.

Location: David Grant Medical Center - Travis AFB. Fairfield CA

Clearance anticipation: Clearance can be quick. Once the Privileges have been approved, approximately 1 month after complete correct packet has been submitted, they will ask for a start date. Security will fingerprint, and after fingerprints have cleared, (approx 1 week) they will then request a start date. Most of the security process will occur on the 1st day. Onboarding is slow to start due to needing government approval for access to charting and email. Once you receive access you have shadowing with another provider and then start seeing patients but build up slowly to a full template.

Workflow: Day starts at 7:25 am with clinic safety huddle. 0800 is start of patient visits with 16-17 visits in a day some days less. There is a mix of in person and virtual screenings. Pace is steady but there is plenty of time to get your work done and some leeway if some patients take a more time than expected.

Job Summary:

  • Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute, and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
  • Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training for staff members.
  • Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care through formal and individual education and counseling.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people to inform the healthcare team of plans/actions for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.
