We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Specialist II to support daily accounting and financial operations at Anaheim, California. This position is responsible for processing accounts payable and receivable transactions, reconciling financial records, preparing journal entries, and assisting with audits and reporting activities.The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and record daily accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions.
- Prepare daily deposit and month-end journal entries.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Reconcile daily and monthly cash, check, and credit card transactions.
- Research and resolve transaction variances, payment discrepancies, and bank charge disputes.
- Match, process, and reconcile vendor invoices and purchase orders.
- Prepare, post, and reconcile customer refunds and daily deposits.
- Assist with internal audits, including reviewing customer account adjustments and transaction accuracy.
- Maintain accurate financial records, accounting logs, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports.
- Assist with collection agency payment and invoice reconciliations.
- Support month-end accounting activities and other assigned financial projects.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting issues and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entry preparation, or 1–2 years of related college coursework or training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong numerical accuracy and data-entry skills, including 10-key proficiency.
- Familiarity with general ledger reconciliations and basic accounting procedures.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify financial discrepancies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.
- Comfortable learning and navigating accounting software and computer-based systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with bank reconciliations, financial reporting, or month-end closing activities.
- Experience preparing journal entries and maintaining accounting records.
- Experience working in a high-volume, transaction-based accounting environment.
- Familiarity with purchase order processing and vendor reconciliations.
- Previous experience supporting internal audits or financial compliance activities.
