Staff Product Designer

PublishedPublished: 6/14/2022

Job Description

About the company

Our client secures the world's most important code. They build the most widely adopted static application security testing (SAST) platform, trusted by engineering teams at Snowflake, Dropbox, Figma, Plaid, and Lyft to catch vulnerabilities early and ship secure code without slowing development down. Founded in 2017, they have raised $100M through a Series D from top investors including Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Menlo Ventures, and Felicis Ventures. The team is roughly 175 people and moving fast on an AI-native AppSec platform.

The role

This is a high-autonomy Staff seat on a small, high-signal design team where you own a product area from day one and help define what a next-generation AppSec platform looks and feels like.

What you'll do

  • Own design strategy across multiple product surfaces, from early problem framing through to shipped experience.
  • Lead the design of a greenfield workflow automation platform that rethinks how AppSec is automated out of the box, touching the core information architecture of the entire product.
  • Simplify genuinely complex workflows for security engineers and developers: triage, vulnerability detection, policy creation, and AI-powered automation.
  • Design for developers working in the IDE or through MCP servers, and shape AI-powered triage and vulnerability management workflows that security teams will actually trust.
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to set direction, not just respond to it.
  • Mentor the team, establish standards, and raise the bar on craft and process.

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years of product design experience designing for developers, security engineers, or technical operators.
  • A portfolio that shows 0 to 1 thinking: greenfield features or new product areas, not just iteration.
  • Experience influencing product direction cross-functionally, not just delivering to spec.
  • Comfort shipping: you use AI tooling in your workflow (Cursor, v0, Copilot, or similar) and ideally collaborate on or write code.
  • Strong UX craft and high visual design quality, with the ability to simplify abstract, complex problems.

Bonus points

  • Domain experience in developer tools or security-adjacent products (for example Snyk, Datadog, GitHub, Cloudflare, or PagerDuty).
  • Experience at a startup or scale-up under 500 people, not exclusively big tech.
  • A strong design voice and the appetite to raise the design bar across the company.

Compensation and benefits

  • Base: $205K to $265K
  • Equity: competitive
  • Note: visa sponsorship is not available for this role

Location and work model

  • San Francisco or New York
  • Hybrid, 2 to 3 days per week in office
