Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
School-Based ABA | 30+ Hours/Week | 8:00 AM 3:00 PM, MondayFriday | Oakland, CA


Education Behavior Consultants (EBC) is hiring school-based Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to support students across Oakland, California during the school day. What Youll Do (School-Based RBT Role)

As a school-based RBT, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 or small-group behavioral and academic support to students throughout the school day

  • Implement ABA-based strategies in classrooms, on the playground, and in other school settings

  • Support goals related to communication, social skills, academics, and behavior regulation

  • Follow Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) developed by a BCBA and school team

  • Collect clear, accurate data on student progress and behavior

  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and BCBAs to maintain consistency and alignment

  • Model calm, professional behavior during both routine and challenging situations

  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom and school environment

This is an active, on-your-feet position that involves moving with students across campus throughout the day.

Schedule & Availability (Required)

This position is school-based with consistent daytime hours:

  • Approximately 30+ hours per week

  • Required availability (non-negotiable):

    • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM 3:00 PM

  • Follows the general school calendar, with potential adjusted opportunities during school breaks (trainings, special projects, etc.)

Because this role is directly tied to student and classroom schedules, open availability from 8:003:00 PM, MondayFriday, is required.


RBT Certification (Required)

For this position:

  • A current RBT certification is required

  • Candidates must be in good standing with the BACB and able to provide verification of active RBT status

Who You Are

We are looking for RBTs who:

  • Enjoy working with children and teens in a school setting

  • Can consistently commit to daytime school hours (8:003:00 PM, MondayFriday)

  • Are patient, calm, and able to maintain professionalism in busy or challenging environments

  • Can follow structured plans and are open to coaching and constructive feedback

  • Communicate respectfully with students, school staff, and EBC colleagues

  • Are dependable, punctual, and take pride in delivering high-quality support

Helpful (but not required) background:

  • Prior school-based experience (paraeducator/IA, classroom aide, behavioral support staff, etc.)

  • Experience in ABA, special education, or related fields
