- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buyer experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience purchasing machine tooling used in machining or CNC operations
- Experience sourcing raw materials, purchased parts, and/or outside processing services
- Strong supplier communication and relationship management skills
- Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail
FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to support procurement activities within a growing aerospace manufacturing environment. This direct-hire role will be responsible for communicating with suppliers, purchasing machine tooling, raw materials, purchased components, outside processing services, packaging materials, and other production-related goods. The ideal candidate will have hands-on purchasing experience within manufacturing, strong supplier communication skills, an understanding of machining and CNC tooling requirements, and the ability to think strategically about inventory, lead times, priorities, and production needs.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Purchasing machine tooling, raw materials, purchased components, processing services, packaging materials, and other manufacturing supplies
- Communicating directly with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, order status, and delivery requirements
- Supporting sourcing activities for new and existing materials, tooling, components, and outside services
- Requesting and reviewing supplier quotes
- Comparing pricing, lead times, availability, and supplier capabilities
- Creating and processing purchase orders
- Following up on open purchase orders and outstanding deliveries
- Monitoring supplier commitments and communicating potential delays
- Coordinating purchasing activities with Production, Engineering, Operations, and other internal departments
- Supporting machining and CNC operations by ensuring required tooling and materials are available
- Purchasing or coordinating outside processing services as required
- Supporting procurement of raw materials and purchased parts used in manufacturing
- Helping maintain appropriate inventory levels while considering production requirements and lead times
- Supporting strategic inventory planning and purchasing decisions
- Identifying potential material shortages or supply risks
- Communicating purchasing and supplier issues to appropriate internal teams
- Maintaining accurate purchasing and supplier records
- Updating purchasing information within applicable ERP or business systems
- Supporting purchasing priorities as production requirements shift
- Providing backup and assistance across purchasing functions as needed
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with suppliers
- Supporting continuous improvement within procurement and supply chain processes
- Maintaining organized purchasing documentation and records
- Performing other duties as assigned
- The selected candidate will also possess:
- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buyer experience required
- Manufacturing environment experience required
- Experience purchasing machine tooling for machining or CNC operations required
- Experience sourcing raw materials, purchased parts, and/or outside processing services required
- Aerospace, defense, machining, fabrication, or precision manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience working directly with manufacturing suppliers and vendors required
- Experience requesting, reviewing, and comparing supplier quotations preferred
- Experience creating and managing purchase orders required
- Knowledge of manufacturing lead times, inventory requirements, and supplier coordination preferred
- Experience supporting production-driven purchasing priorities preferred
- ERP or purchasing system experience preferred
- Strong computer skills required
- Microsoft Office experience preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills required
- Excellent attention to detail required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required
- Professional supplier communication skills required
- Strategic thinking related to inventory, supply availability, and production requirements

- Ability to work effectively with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Operations, and external suppliers
- Ability to work onsite in Vista, CA
- Ability to successfully complete applicable pre-employment requirements
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while reviewing purchase orders, quotes, inventory information, supplier communications, and related documentation
- Ability to communicate by phone, email, and in person throughout the workday
- Ability to use hands and fingers for typing, data entry, document review, filing, and standard office tasks
- Ability to review purchasing records, spreadsheets, ERP information, supplier quotations, drawings, specifications, and computer screens for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout office and manufacturing areas as needed
- Ability to occasionally visit production, machining, warehouse, or inventory areas to verify materials, tooling, or purchasing requirements
- Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, tooling, materials, and normal production activity as needed
- Ability to wear required PPE and follow applicable manufacturing and safety procedures when entering production areas
- Ability to maintain accuracy, organization, and attention to detail while managing multiple purchasing priorities
Salary Range: $28 to $32/hour
