Job DescriptionPainter Location: San Fernando Valley, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Pay: $27–$30/hour DOE
Employment Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities
- Prepare metal parts and surfaces for painting through sanding, cleaning, solvent wiping, and other preparation methods.
- Mask parts according to work instructions and specifications.
- Mix paints, primers, coatings, and solvents using required ratios and specifications.
- Apply primers and finish coatings using industrial spray equipment.
- Work with gloss, semi-gloss, flat, and specialty finishes.
- Verify that surfaces have been properly prepared before applying coatings.
- Load and unload parts from paint racks.
- Operate curing ovens and monitor required temperatures and curing cycles.
- Inspect finished parts for proper coverage, appearance, and overall quality.
- Identify common painting defects such as runs, sags, overspray, uneven coverage, and surface imperfections.
- Clean and maintain spray guns, paint booths, filters, and related equipment.
- Follow work orders, job instructions, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Safely handle paints, primers, solvents, and other chemicals.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established safety and quality procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of industrial paint shop or production painting experience required.
- Experience using spray guns and industrial painting equipment.
- Hands-on experience preparing and mixing primers, paints, and coatings.
- Knowledge of surface preparation, masking, priming, spray painting, and curing processes.
- Ability to mix paints and primers according to specified ratios.
- Basic ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and written instructions.
- Ability to recognize common coating and surface defects.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to safely work with paints, solvents, coatings, and related chemicals.
Preferred:
- Aerospace or defense painting experience.
- Experience with aerospace primers, topcoats, or specialty coatings.
- Familiarity with coating/paint thickness requirements and inspection standards.
- Experience in a regulated or quality-controlled manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive work throughout the shift.
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test and pulmonary evaluation, when required.
