Job Description
- The Assembly Operator is responsible for performing basic mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assembly operations on products, sub-assemblies, and components according to detailed specifications and work instructions. You will contribute directly to product quality and production efficiency by following established procedures under direct supervision, using common hand tools and basic power tools to build and inspect assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assembly operations using common hand tools and basic power tools.
- Read and interpret basic engineering drawings, blueprints, and written work instructions to complete assembly tasks accurately.
- Conduct visual quality checks to ensure components and assemblies meet defined quality standards and specifications.
- Identify and report assembly issues, defects, or non-conformances to a higher-level operator or supervisor promptly.
- Perform simple rework or repair on non-conforming products or components by following established procedures and guidelines.
- Operate basic assembly equipment such as simple presses, fixtures, and other tools as instructed.
- Accurately complete basic production documentation, including travelers and other required records.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area to support safe and productive operations.
- Handle and assemble small parts with care, using good manual dexterity to ensure precision and consistency.
- Perform wire cutting, basic wiring, and hand soldering tasks on electronics and PCB boards as needed.
- Support general production and EM assembly activities as directed by the supervisor or lead.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of manufacturing or assembly experience.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and good manual dexterity for working with small parts.
- Ability to lift up to approximately 2550 pounds as required by assembly tasks.
- Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions consistently.
- Basic ability to read and interpret technical documents such as simple drawings and work instructions.
- Familiarity with basic assembly tools, including common hand tools and basic power tools.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and document work.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a production environment.
- Basic organizational skills to manage tasks, materials, and documentation.
- At least 6 months of soldering experience, including hand soldering with a soldering iron.
- Experience with wire cutting and basic wiring tasks.
- Comfort working with electronics components, PCB boards, and related assembly processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous assembly experience beyond the minimum requirement is a plus.
- Experience with EM assembly and electronics assembly is beneficial.
- Experienced in general production or manufacturing environments is advantageous.
- Exposure to laser welding or similar precision processes is a plus.
- Ability to perform careful visual inspections and identify quality issues.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality work.

Work Environment
- This position is based in a manufacturing and assembly environment focused on electronics and electro-mechanical products. Work is performed at production workstations using common hand tools, basic power tools, simple presses, fixtures, soldering irons, and other assembly equipment. You will handle small parts, wiring, PCB boards, and electronic components, requiring good manual dexterity and attention to detail. The facility operates multiple shifts, including a first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Safety policies and procedures are strictly followed, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The workspace is kept clean and organized to support safe, efficient production, and you will work closely with other team members in a structured, process-driven environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of POWAY, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
