Job Description

Job Description Lead Residential HVAC Diagnostics Specialist

Location: Canoga Park, CA | Company: Tassio Temperature Control

A day in your boots

Your morning kicks off with a well-prepared truck and a clear schedule. First stop: a residential system that’s short-cycling. You deploy modern diagnostic tools, isolate the root cause, and walk the homeowner through service options — earning commission on the solutions you recommend on top of your hourly rate. Midday, you shift to a light commercial call to troubleshoot controls, then spend an hour mentoring a junior tech, showing them how to verify airflow and document findings. You wrap by updating service records and planning tomorrow’s route.

What you’ll handle

  • Expert diagnostics and troubleshooting across residential and select commercial HVAC systems
  • Routine maintenance and timely repairs on heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment
  • Clear customer communication about needs, options, and recommended solutions — with earned commission for results
  • Mentorship of junior technicians and a defined path toward a Lead Tech role
  • Accurate documentation of service calls, repairs, and installations
  • Staying current with industry standards, technologies, and regulations

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred
  • NATE certification preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of professional HVAC service and repair experience, including recent hands-on residential service (commercial-only, installation-only, property-maintenance-only, or classroom-only experience does not meet this requirement)
  • Deep knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and components
  • Sharp troubleshooting ability and attention to detail
  • Strong communicator who can work independently and within a team
  • Valid California driver’s license per company policy
  • EPA certification a plus

Pay, growth, and culture

  • $32–$55/hr base plus earned commission — top performers take home significantly more
  • Modern equipment, ongoing training, and a team that recognizes and develops experienced techs
  • Growing, established local business with steady, year-round demand

Core proficiencies

  • HVAC
  • HVAC/R Systems
  • HVAC Service & Installation
  • HVAC Maintenance
  • HVAC Troubleshooting
  • HVAC Repair

Tools & technologies you’ll use

  • HVAC Systems
