Position: Journeyman Carpenter
Job Type: Full-Time
Work Type: Commercial / Public Works Projects
Location: Los Angeles / Ventura County Area
We are looking for an experienced Journeyman Carpenter for commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, understand construction drawings and specifications, and perform quality finish work.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand architectural plans, details, and project specifications.
- Metal and wood framing as required.
- Install drywall and gypsum board.
- Drywall patching and repairs.
- Tape, mud, sand, and finish drywall.
- Prepare walls and ceilings for paint.
- Interior commercial painting and touch-up work.
- Install backing, blocking, doors, trim, and miscellaneous carpentry as required.
- Perform demolition and repair work related to carpentry and finishes.
- Follow project plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and superintendent direction.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas.
- Complete daily work documentation when required.
- Work on prevailing-wage/public-works projects and provide information required for certified payroll.
Requirements
- Experienced Journeyman-level Carpenter.
- Commercial construction experience required.
- Strong drywall installation, patching, taping, and finishing skills.
- Painting experience preferred.
- Must be able to read plans, details, schedules, and specifications without constant supervision.
- Must understand commercial construction quality standards.
- Must have own basic hand tools.
- Reliable transportation.
- Able to work safely from ladders and lifts when required.
- OSHA/safety training preferred.
- Public works / prevailing wage experience preferred.
- Must accurately report hours and work classification for certified payroll.
Preferred Candidate
We are looking for someone who is versatile and can handle carpentry, drywall, patching, taping, and finish work instead of being limited to only one task. The employee should be comfortable reviewing the drawings before starting work and identifying questions or conflicts before installation.
Important: Work will be assigned and reported under the appropriate prevailing-wage/craft classification applicable to the work being performed.
