RN Interventional Radiology Nurse

Day/Mid with call. 13 weeks traveler. Monday - Friday 8 hr shifts with on call night and weekends for emergency cases. Need experience in IR/ cathlab Needs basic critical care such as ER or ICU BLS, ALS On call 2-3 times a week. With rotating weekends. IL LICENSE IS REQUIRED.


An Interventional Radiology RN is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing minimally invasive procedures, including pre-procedural assessments, intra-procedural assistance, and post-procedural education.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Patient Care: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and psychosocial status before, during, and after procedures. This includes monitoring vital signs and managing patient comfort and anxiety.
  2. Assisting Procedures: Collaborate with radiologists during interventional procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile techniques, and handling instruments. The RN may also administer sedation and pain management under physician supervision.
  3. Education: Educate patients about their procedures, ensuring they understand the process and obtain informed consent. Provide post-procedure care instructions and monitor for any complications.
  4. Coordination: Work with multidisciplinary teams to plan and evaluate patient care, ensuring a seamless experience throughout the interventional process.
  5. Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of supplies and equipment specific to interventional radiology, ensuring readiness for procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education: Typically requires an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Advanced training in radiologic technology and patient care protocols is beneficial.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Must hold a valid RN license and may require certifications such as ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
